Special Agent Wyatt Cannon is a young rising star in the FBI, currently assigned to the Salt Lake City office. Wyatt has extremely high moral standards that are severely tested with one of his cold cases. Wyatt is also lonely and has not dated much since high school. He meets a young woman who intrigues him, but their relationship ends in tragedy. He later meets another young woman, Ashley, and sparks fly. But as the relationship begins to blossom, Wyatt starts worrying about the number of FBI Agents whose marriages end in divorce, largely because of the assignments that keep the Agents from sharing where they are or what they are doing. The frustrating cold case and the previous tragedy cause PTSD, and he is forced to take an R&R leave. He learns about his ancestral roots while at the Cannon Trust in Denver and spends time on the Trust’s horse ranch. The story contains much action, romance, psychological twists and turns, and a touch of mysticism.
