This is the fifth novel of our Freedom Town Series. The former slaves are in their third year in southeastern Colorado. The original group that headed west from Lake Providence, Louisiana, consisted of a small group of former slaves and one white woman.  All of the former slaves wanted to shed that mindset, and everyone in the group was seeking a better life. Their herds have thrived, with over 1000 cattle, 150 horses, 78 mules, 90 sheep, 25 goats, 40 hogs, 40 shoats, and 25 milk cows. They had to fight their way from Louisiana to Colorado and claw for survival and prosperity. They face many trials, including thieves, rustlers, marauding Indians, and vengeful families seeking to kill Cat Jones. Cat also leads a group to Cuba to rescue kidnapped teenage boys.
